If you enjoy making individual gifts and gift baskets for friends and family you may want to consider making homemade men’s aftershave for the guys and bath treatments for the ladies this year. What follows are a few simple recipes to create your own distinct beauty products.

Once completed, the aftershave, massage oil and bath treatments can be put into ornamental containers and either added to a personal care themed gift basket or as a standalone gift.

All of the ingredients mentioned in the recipes can be readily found either online or at your local craft or all natural stores.

Men’s Aftershave Recipe #1

  • 1 ounce 70% rubbing alcohol
  • 2 ½ ounces distilled water or witch hazel
  • 30 drops Swiss pine essential oil
  • 10 drops grapefruit essential oil

Begin by mixing 1 ounce of the alcohol into the 2 ½ ounces of distilled water or witch hazel, whichever you purchased. Next add the essential oils and mix thoroughly. Once the mixture is done it is ready to be placed in a dark colored decorative glass container. Dark colored glass is preferred because direct sunlight can alter the aftershave’s effectiveness over time.

Men’s Aftershave Recipe #2 (For Sensitive Skin)

  • 15 drops propolis tincture
  • 10 drops grapefruit essential oil
  • 30 drops Swiss pine essential oil
  • 2 ½ ounces distilled water
  • 1 ounce 70% rubbing alcohol

Combine all of the ingredients thoroughly and then store the massage oil mixture into a dark colored container to prolong the shelf life of the oil.

Massage Oil Recipe #2

  • 1 ¾ almond essential oil
  • 10 drops tangerine essential oil
  • 2 drops neroli essential oil

Combine all of the ingredients thoroughly and then store the massage oil mixture into a dark colored container to prolong the shelf life of the oil.

Massage Oil Recipe #3

  • 1 ¾ ounces of jojoba oil
  • 10 drops sandalwood essential oil2 drops coriander essential oil
  • 5 drops Roman chamomile essential oil
  • 2 drops of rose essential oil

Combine all of the ingredients thoroughly and then store the massage oil mixture into a dark colored container to prolong the shelf life of the oil.

Massage Oil Recipe # 4

  • 1 drop jasmine essential oil
  • 2 drops tagetes essential oil
  • 1 drop nutmeg essential oil
  • 2 drops sandalwood essential oil
  • 1 ¾ ounces of jojoba oil

Combine all of the ingredients thoroughly and then store the massage oil mixture into a dark colored container to prolong the shelf life of the oil.

Massage Oil Recipe #5

  • 3 1/8 ounces hazelnut essential oil
  • 15 drops rosewood essential oil
  • 3 drops of rose essential oil

Combine all of the ingredients thoroughly and then store the massage oil mixture into a dark colored container to prolong the shelf life of the oil.

Bath Oil Recipe #1

  • 5 drops bergamot essential oil
  • 10 drops sandalwood essential oil
  • 5 drops neroli essential oil

Combine all of the ingredients thoroughly and then store the bath oil mixture into a dark colored container to prolong the shelf life of the oil.

Bath Oil Recipe #2 (Honey or Liquid Soap Based)

  • 2 tablespoon of honey or liquid soap
  • 2 drops Tonka bean essential oil
  • 4 drops jasmine essential oil
  • 2 drops honey oil
  • 6 drops sandalwood oil

Combine all of the ingredients thoroughly and then store the bath oil mixture into a dark colored container to prolong the shelf life of the oil.

Oatmeal Bath Recipe #1

  • 1 cup bran or oatmeal
  • 15 drops essential oil (your choice)

Mix the oatmeal and essential oil of choice together. Once the two ingredients have been combined, put the oatmeal mixture into a water soluble bag (i.e. cheesecloth or organza). To use, submerge the mixture filled bag into a tub filled with hot water and let it steep.

Bath Salt Recipe #1

  • Sea Salts
  • 10 drops essential oil (your choice)

Begin by adding the essential oil to the sea salts. Shake the salt thoroughly to coat the salt crystals with the scented essential oil. Once that is done place the salts in a decorative container or add them to a hot bath.

Bath Potpourri Recipe #1

  • 1 cup dried wild strawberry leaves

Place the wild strawberry leaves into a decorative water soluble bag (i.e. cheese cloth or organza). To use, submerge the mixture filled bag into a tub filled with hot water and let it steep.
